Frequently Asked Questions

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy is the manipulation of the body’s soft tissues—muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia—using a variety of techniques to relieve tension, improve circulation, support healing, and promote relaxation. Depending on the style and focus, massage can be deeply therapeutic, calming, or both. It’s used for everything from stress relief to chronic pain management.

What types of massage do you offer?

I currently offer Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, postpartum, and sports massage. Add-ons include hot stones, body scrub, aromatherapy, and silver tracing. I’m excited to be able to offer more modalities in the future!

Swedish vs. Deep Tissue — What’s the difference?

Swedish massage is a gentle, relaxing style that uses long, flowing strokes to reduce tension, improve circulation, and promote overall relaxation. It’s ideal for stress relief and first-time clients.

Deep tissue massage targets deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using slower, more focused pressure. It’s helpful for chronic pain, tight muscles, and injury recovery. While both can be therapeutic, deep tissue tends to be more intense and specific..

What is silver tracing?

Silver tracing is a signature technique I use with sterling silver nail caps to gently stimulate your skin. Think of it as the most luxurious back scratch of your life!

This light, teasing sensation awakens your nerve endings, boosts circulation, and helps release feel-good chemicals like serotonin and endorphins. Most clients get goosebumps within seconds (and love it!).

Silver Tracing happens before any oil is applied and adds an extra 5 minutes to your session without cutting into your actual massage time. It's the perfect way to ease in and fully relax from the very start!

How often should I get a massage?

The ideal frequency depends on your goals, lifestyle, and physical condition. For general stress relief and maintenance, once a month is often enough. If you're dealing with chronic pain, recovering from injury, or have a physically demanding job or lifestyle, more frequent sessions—such as weekly or biweekly—may be more beneficial. I’m happy to work with you to create a plan that fits your needs and schedule!

What should I expect during my first massage?

Your first session will start with a short consultation to discuss your health history, goals, and any areas of concern or discomfort. (There will be a bit of paperwork to be filled out online before your appointment or in office). You'll be given privacy to undress to your comfort level and lie on the massage table under a sheet and blanket. I will use techniques appropriate to your needs and check in as needed to ensure your comfort with pressure, temperature, and positioning. After the session, you’ll have a few minutes to rest and re-dress, and I’ll offer recommendations for follow-up or self-care if needed. The entire experience is designed to be safe, respectful, and restorative..

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear something comfortable that you can easily undress and redress in. You may be sleepy after your appointment and ready to take a nap!

Should I arrive early to my massage?

If it’s your first appointment, please arrive at least 10-15 minutes before your appointment start time so you’ll have time to fill out paperwork as needed and have a brief consultation with me. After your first appointment, I recommend arriving at least 5 minutes early so that you have plenty of time to use the restroom or get settled before we begin. Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes early to your appointment. Likewise, per the terms and conditions you agree to when you book your appointment, clients more than 15 minutes late will be considered a no-show and will be charged a fee. Arriving on time will ensure that you get the full duration of your massage!

Can I talk during my massage?

If you’d like to chat during the session, we absolutely can! I love becoming friends with my clients and hearing your stories and experiences. However, I will follow your lead. If you don’t want to talk at all, that is perfectly fine, too. (I’ll just check in occasionally on pressure and temperature preferences!) Remember, this is YOUR time, and I want you to enjoy it to the fullest. Please always speak up about your preferences or if there is anything I can do to make your massage experience more enjoyable.

Can I get a massage if I’m pregnant?

You absolutely can! I’m certified in prenatal and postpartum massage, and have been trained to massage women in every trimester and situation. That’s right — you can get a massage even in the first trimester of pregnancy! I have special accommodations for my lovely pregnant clients. Make sure to book the Prenatal Glow Massage on my scheduling page!

Are there any conditions that make massage unsafe?

Massage therapy is generally very safe, but there are some medical conditions where it should be avoided or adjusted. These include:

  • Fever or contagious illness (like the flu or a cold)

  • Infectious skin conditions or open wounds

  • Recent surgeries or injuries (especially within the last 6 weeks)

  • Blood clots or deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

  • Certain types of cancer or undergoing chemotherapy

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart conditions

  • Severe osteoporosis

If you have a medical condition or are under a doctor’s care, it’s always a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider before booking a massage. I also review health history forms before your first session to ensure that massage is safe and appropriate for you.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I do not accept insurance. However, if you are also a patient of Dr. Davis, D. C. — he has a list of insurance providers that will cover a chiropractic adjustment + 30-minute massage combination. Please see him with questions.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, card, check, and Venmo.

Do you offer weekend or late appointments?

I do occasionally. Please message me personally 864-485-6140 for availability.

Do you offer packages or discounts?

I sometimes offer discounts — keep an eye out on my social media and emails!
